CLEVELAND — Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin erased any doubt about his support for Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, saying the nation must not settle for Hillary Clinton in the November election.

“America deserves better than Hillary Clinton,” Mr. Walker said. “That is why we need to support Donald Trump and Mike Pence for President and Vice President.”

“Last August, I said that any of the Republicans running would be better than Hillary Clinton. I meant it then, and I mean it now,” Mr. Walker said. “So let me be clear: a vote for anyone other than Donald Trump in November is a vote for Hillary Clinton.”

Mr. Walker was highly critical of Mr. Trump during the primary campaign, but said Thursday that he embraced Mr. Trump in large part because he doesn’t want Mrs. Clinton to nominate liberal justices to the Supreme Court.
