Paula White, Trump religious adviser, a ‘heretic,’ says Erick Erickson, conservative radio host

Paula White, a Florida megachurch pastor and theological adviser to Donald Trump, is a “heretic,” claims conservative writer, radio host and #NeverTrump activist Erick Erickson in a Tuesday posting to his website The Resurgent. 

“I don’t use the word heretic lightly, but I agree with Russell Moore of the [Southern Baptist Convention’s] Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission,” Mr. Erickson, a seminary student and ordained deacon, wrote of Ms. White.

“Paula White is a charlatan and recognized as a heretic by every orthodox Christian, of whatever tribe,” Mr. Moore tweeted on June 28. The Baptist theologian was reacting to a tweet that linked to a Patheos.com story about Ms. White’s supposed role in leading Mr. Trump to a profession of evangelical Christian faith.

As The Washington Times reported in early June, Mr. Moore has declared Mr. Trump a “lost person” who must “repent” of his sins.

“Paula White is a prosperity gospel preacher,” Mr. Erickson explained. “The prosperity gospel has infiltrated a bunch of churches, unfortunately, and is prevalent in the black community where preachers live lavish lifestyles while the congregation makes do with scraps.”

Not only is Ms. White one of Mr. Trump’s advisers, she’s reportedly a neighbor and a tenant.

“Paula White recently purchased a Trump Towers condo in New York City valued at $3.5 million,” Townhall.com reported of the televangelist back in October 2007.

Ms. White, and her ex-husband Randy White, were among numerous televangelists scrutinized by a U.S. Senate committee in 2011 regarding alleged financial irregularities and possible abuses of federal tax laws regarding nonprofit organizations.

It appears Ms. White has not reacted to neither Mr. Erickson nor Mr. Moore’s charges. A review of her official Twitter account — sample tweet: “Be happy and excited for another’s #blessings! Yours are around the corner!!” — yielded no mentions of their criticisms.
