The injury news is slowly improving for the Washington Wizards.
Shooting guard Bradley Beal is creeping toward a return. Wizards coach Randy Wittman said Friday night that Beal could go on the two-game road trip that begins Saturday in Orlando.
“Looks like he’s right there,” Wittman said. “He’ll probably go on this trip and just see where we’re at. We got an off day on Sunday. So, we’ll see.”
Beal, the Wizards’ leading scorer, has been out since an MRI exam on Dec. 11 showed the beginnings of a stress fracture in his lower right fibula. For the fourth time in four years, Beal has missed games during the regular season because of a lower right leg problem.
He has missed 14 consecutive games, and almost a month of time, since the diagnosis. Last season, Beal was out from Feb. 6 to Feb. 27.
Power forward Drew Gooden (calf) was available Friday night, as was Nene (calf). Kris Humphries (knee) was ruled out for the second consecutive game.
