The White House came to Hillary Clinton’s defense Thursday in her feud with Republican Donald Trump over Bill Clinton’s treatment of women.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Mrs. Clinton’s “commitment to fighting for justice and equality for women … is second to none.”

“It is something that she’s clearly personally passionate about,” Mr. Earnest said. “People can have whatever kind of debate they want to have in the context of a political election. But in that kind of debate, Secretary Clinton brings a lot of credentials.”

Mr. Trump released a new video Thursday suggesting former President Clinton’s record of infidelity undermines Mrs. Clinton’s record on women’s rights.

The video, posted on Mr. Trump’s Instagram account, contrasts Mrs. Clinton’s comments in support of women’s rights with a photograph of Mr. Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern with whom he had an affair.
