ASHBURN — For the second consecutive day, Washington Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar was limited in practice with a quad injury. However, coach Jay Gruden remained confident that Dunbar is progressing toward being ready for Sunday’s wild-card round game against the Green Bay Packers.

Dunbar was inactive for the Redskins’ regular-season finale against the Dallas Cowboys.

“He had a good day,” Gruden said. “He did some team work today which was good to see. He showed some bursts of speed. Just a matter of how it recuperates and how he does tomorrow and how he feels. I think the signs are pointing in a positive direction with him.”

Running back Matt Jones, free safety Dashon Goldson (rib/shoulder), defensive end Jason Hatcher (neck/knee) and inside linebacker Perry Riley (foot) were all limited.

The outlook is not so clear for Jones, who has been inactive the last two games with a hip pointer.

“We’re still working through Matt,” Gruden said. “Matt’s still a little sore, was very limited again today. We’ll look at him tomorrow and see how he does.”

Gruden said on Wednesday that either Jones or running back Chris Thompson will be inactive, based on who is healthier.

The only player that missed practice was defensive end Chris Baker, whose wife gave birth to their daughter.

“Congratulations to Chris. Hopefully, she looks like his wife,” Gruden joked.
