The White House said Wednesday that it doesn’t believe North Korea has successfully tested a hydrogen bomb.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said an initial analysis by U.S. authorities “is not consistent with North Korean claims of a successful hydrogen bomb test.”

North Korea, which has nuclear weapons, said the test Tuesday night was a successful detonation of a hydrogen bomb.

The White House said it’s monitoring the situation, and that the nuclear test was “provocative” and a “flagrant violation” of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
