Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump declared Monday that an injured Tom Brady is still better than any alternative and singled out a man wearing a Trump-Brady shirt at a rally in Lowell, Massachusetts.

“Oh, I love that man. … Stand up. It says Trump and Tom Brady, look — together,” Mr. Trump said, pointing to someone in the crowd wearing the Trump-Brady shirt. “I love Tom Brady. I love him.”

“Tom — we gotta get Tom better,” Mr. Trump said, referring to an ankle injury the New England Patriots quarterback suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins.

“Remember this: Tom Brady injured is still better than anybody else,” he said. “That is the coolest shirt. I got to get one of those shirts. Look at that guy. Turn around. Show that to those cameras. They won’t put it up. … That is beautiful. I love that.”

“That is beautiful,” he said. “Well, Tom has been very nice to me, and Tom’s my friend, and he’s been saying great things about me, you know that, and I’ll tell you what: He’s a champ, and he’s a winner, and that’s what we need in this country.”
