(1) Repent or we quit, say bishops in gays feud: Anglican church could split in challenge to Welby’s authority (Daily Mail)

Church leaders from Africa and Asia are threatening to walk out of a crucial meeting chaired by the Archbishop of Canterbury unless American bishops drop their support for gay marriage.

Archbishop Justin Welby last year invited the leaders of the worldwide Anglican Church to the summit in Canterbury next week in a ’make or break’ effort to avert a permanent split over homosexuality.

The row has torn the Church apart for a decade — with conservatives accusing liberals of abandoning the word of God by backing openly gay bishops and marriages for gay couples — and the Archbishop wants to broker a deal to allow both sides to co-exist peacefully.

(2) Christian Organization [YMCA] Allows Men To Shower With 15-Year-Old Girls (The Daily Wire)

Locker room policy at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Seattle, Washington, now allows self-identified “transgender” males to shower with 15-year-old girls. Controversy surrounding this decision has led many to question the organization and even cancel their memberships.

According to an inside source at the YMCA, the decision had been brewing ever since March of this year, when a “open door” policy for trans individuals was being discussed. In April 2015, the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties established a “no questions asked” policy, allowing open access to locker rooms without stating genders.

(4) Inside the Anti-Gay Church That Loves Kim Davis and Ted Cruz (The Daily Beast)

***A profile piece that, upfront, admits it had no interview access to the people being profiled. Yet, the entire pieces attempts to cast a negative light on a man and the church he attends and leads. Apparently, we are to have a low opinion of this man because (1) he is a successful business man, and (2) he holds to a traditional-biblical view of marriage.

“Farris Wilks didn’t speak with The Daily Beast for this story, but a visit to the church he pastors may shed light on the way the billionaire’s faith informs his commitment to bankrolling a culture warrior like Cruz.”

(5) Dear Media: Stop Trying To Teach Christians Theology. Christianity obviously doesn’t mean what you think it means. So stop making yourself out to be televangelists. by G. Shane Morris (The Federalist)

“Every journalist in America has been secretly attending seminary, and now understands Christianity better than most Christians do. This is the only conclusion I can draw after months of theology lectures from reporters whose most recent encounter with religious terminology was Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.” To those of us for whom church isn’t a metaphor for sex, it’s been a frustrating few months.”
