Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump released his first television ad of the campaign Monday — a 30-second spot that says he’ll “quickly cut the head off” the Islamic State terrorist group and take their oil and touts his proposal to temporarily bar Muslims from entering the United States.
“The politicians can pretend it’s something else. But Donald Trump calls it radical Islamic terrorism,” a narrator says. “That’s why he’s calling for a temporary shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until we can figure out what’s going on.”
“He’ll quickly cut the head off ISIS and take their oil,” the narrator continues. “And he’ll stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.”
“We will make America great again,” Mr. Trump says in a clip to conclude the ad.
Mr. Trump’s campaign says the ad will start airing in Iowa and New Hampshire starting Tuesday. The campaign said he will be spending at least $2 million per week, with initial TV spending totaling $1.1 million in Iowa and close to $1 million in New Hampshire.
“I am leading in every poll by wide, double-digit margins. We have tremendous crowds, incredible support from all over the country, and I am $35 million dollars under budget,” Mr. Trump said. “We have spent the least amount of money and have the best results, and this is the kind of thinking the country needs. I am very proud of this ad, I don’t know if I need it, but I don’t want to take any chances because if I win, we are going to ’Make America Great Again.’”
