The Washington Redskins will host the Green Bay Packers in their playoff opener on Sunday at 4:40 p.m. at FedEx Field.
The Minnesota Vikings held on to beat the Packers, 20-13, on Sunday night. The win vaulted Minnesota to the NFC North title and made the flailing Packers the No. 5 seed in the playoffs.
Green Bay started the season with ferocity. It moved into a bye week with a 6-0 record. Since, the Packers have been middling. The Packers have gone 4-6 and were sent onto the road to face division-winning Washington after falling to the rival Vikings.
The Vikings’ win means they will host the Seattle Seahawks, who have been to the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons. The Carolina Panthers are the No. 1 seed in the NFC and the Arizona Cardinals are the No. 2 seed. If the seeds hold, which would mean Washington beating Green Bay and Minnesota defeating Seattle, the Redskins would next play at Carolina on Jan. 17 at 1:05 p.m.
The Packers were 5-3 on the road this year. The Redskins controlled their home field, going 6-2 after losing the opener at home. Washington has also won four consecutive games overall and five of six.
