DES MOINES, IOWA | Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced a “special event” scheduled for Thursday night to coincide with the Fox News debate that he is boycotting.
He will host the “special event to benefit veterans organization” at Drake University in Des Moines, the Trump campaign announced.
The campaign said that more details would be forthcoming.
Mr. Trump pulled out of the Fox News debate as the culmination of his ongoing feud with anchor Megyn Kelly.
He is making good on a threat when he withdrew from the debate to hold a competing event, a move that undoubtedly would draw coverage from the other news networks and likely siphon viewers from the debate.
