Donald Trump said Monday that Sen. Ted Cruz should either figure out whether he is eligible to be president or leave the GOP presidential race.

“It’s time for Ted Cruz to either settle his problem with the FACT that he was born in Canada and was a citizen of Canada, or get out of race,” Mr. Trump tweeted.

Mr. Trump has challenged whether Mr. Cruz’s birth in 1970 to a Cuban father and American mother in Canada disqualifies him to be president under the Constitution’s requirements and has pointed out that some scholars — including one of Mr. Cruz’s former law professors at Harvard — say the issue is not settled.

Mr. Cruz, who is battling Mr. Trump for the top spot in Iowa polls a week out from the caucuses, has dismissed the claim that he is not a natural-born citizen.
