Willie Robertson, one of the stars of the TV show “Duck Dynasty,” has endorsed businessman Donald Trump for president — a little more than a week after his father and the family patriarch, Phil, threw his own support behind Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
Willie Robertson said Mr. Trump is a “real leader” and represents “success and strength,” touting Mr. Trump as a “successful businessman” and a “family man” in a statement released by the Trump campaign.
“I am truly honored to receive Willie’s endorsement,” Mr. Trump said. “He is a great person, has had tremendous success and a really terrific family. He believes in my message and knows that I am the only one who will ’Make America Great Again!’ “
The younger Mr. Robertson had previously been a supporter of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who suspended his presidential campaign in November.
Last week, the Cruz campaign announced the endorsement of Phil Robertson.
“My qualifications for president of the United States are rather narrow: Is he or she Godly, does he or she love us, can he or she do the job, and finally would they kill a duck and put him in a pot and make him a good duck gumbo?” Phil Robertson says in an ad from the campaign. “I’ve looked at the candidates. Ted Cruz is my man.”
