A super PAC supporting Sen. Ted Cruz’s White House bid is launching a new $2.5 million ad campaign in Iowa and South Carolina in which Cruz supporters talk up his trustworthiness and willingness to stick to his guns.

“He actually went to Washington, D.C., and did what he told the voters he was going to do,” one supporter says in the ad from the group Keep the Promise I.

The ad also features Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican, talking about standing up “not just to Democrats” but “to leaders in our own party,” and includes images of people like Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, a 2016 GOP rival, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and former House Speaker John A. Boehner.

The 30-second spot includes some of the same footage as a 60-second digital ad the group released last month, which was backed by a six-figure buy.

“When I tell you I’m going to do something, I’m going to do exactly what I said I would do,” Mr. Cruz says to conclude both ads.
