Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx turned into a real-life action hero this week as he pulled a man to safety from a burning pickup truck.

The crash occurred outside the gates of Mr. Foxx’s home in Hidden Valley, a secluded enclave north and west of Los Angeles, around 8:30 p.m. PST on Monday, NBC News reported.

Brett Kyle, 32, of Newbury Park, was driving “at a high rate of speed” when he flipped his 2007 Toyota Tacoma into a drainage ditch, causing it to catch fire, according to several reports.

Mr. Foxx, who called 911, told California Highway Patrol that he was afraid the vehicle would explode so he pulled the driver to safety 30 feet away, his representative confirmed to the New York Post.

Mr. Kyle, who suffered major injuries, was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

A man claiming to be Mr. Kyle’s brother praised the actor on Facebook.

“The story the nurse said, was that Jamie Foxx pulled him out of his car. Not only a hero in the movies, but a hero in true life. Thank you sir, for doing what not everyone would have done. You are a true hero,” the man wrote, the Post reported.

The Ventura County-based group Safety For Citizens posted several photos of the wreck on Facebook.

“Jamie [Foxx] told CHP that he heard the accident and also a person screaming from the overturned vehicle,” the group wrote. “Jamie also made a 911 call. Jamie said he was able to reach into the vehicle, grab the person, and drag them away to safety.”
