“Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson threw his support behind Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign for president on Wednesday, saying he is the right “godly” person for the job.
“My qualifications for President of the United States are rather narrow: Is he or she godly, does he or she love us, can he or she do the job, and finally would they kill a duck and put him in a pot and make him a good duck gumbo?,” Mr. Robertson tells the camera in a video, sporting camouflaged hunting gear and face paint. “[Mr. Cruz] fits the bill.”
The video shows Mr. Robertson and Mr. Cruz, also sporting hunting gear and face paint, hunting and shooting rifles.
“Cruz, the reason we are going to vote for you — all of us — is because you are one of us, my man, ” Mr. Robertson tells the Texas Republican in the video. “That’s why we are voting for you. It is now or never.”
