Peyton Manning wasn’t shedding tears Wednesday over the demise of Al Jazeera America, the cable news network that announced earlier in the day that it would be closing by the end of April.

The network made one of its biggest splashes with an investigative piece accusing Manning and such other high-profile athletes as Washington Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman of doping. The Denver Broncos’ all-pro quarterback furiously denounced the report as “garbage” and threatened a libel lawsuit.

Manning was not in a forgiving mood when asked for his reaction by reporters Wednesday afternoon, as the Broncos practiced for a Sunday playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I’m sure that’s just devastating to all their viewers,” he said.

USA Today’s Lindsay Jones helpfully added in a tweet: “Yes, he was sarcastic.”
