Washington Redskins free safety Dashon Goldson and cornerback Quinton Dunbar are both out for the regular-season finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Goldson has a broken rib and shoulder injury, which he played through in last week’s NFC East-clinching win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Dunbar sustained a quad injury and has not participated in practice this week.
Left tackle Trent Williams, defensive end Jason Hatcher, cornerback DeAngelo Hall, wide receiver DeSean Jackson and running back Pierre Thomas are all listed as questionable. Running back Matt Jones and inside linebacker Perry Riley are both doubtful.
One of the challenges this week for the Redskins coach Jay Gruden is deciding who will play and who will rest, considering the game has no impact on the team’s playoff position.
Williams, who has knee and foot injuries, missed practice twice this week. Gruden when asked if there was any benefit to Williams playing this week, said there’s “probably not a lot.”
“We’ll have to wait and see how he does in pregame warmup if we dress him, but there’s a chance he won’t dress,” Gruden told reporters on Friday. “We just wanted to keep him off today. We were on the turf. We didn’t want to get some unnecessary pounding on it [Williams’ knee] and we’ll see how he’s doing.”
Hatcher is still dealing with neck and knee injuries, though he is yet to miss a game this season. Jackson also has a knee injury and Hall sustained a calf injury late in the Eagles game. Hall did not practice on Wednesday but was limited the last two days.
Jones was inactive against Philadelphia because of a hip pointer and Riley has yet to play since having surgery on a broken bone in his foot at the beginning of December.
