DURHAM, New Hampshire — Hillary Clinton on Thursday dismissed the ongoing scandal around her use of private email and said she has “no concerns about it whatsoever” and is “100 percent confident” she won’t be indicted.
At a presidential primary debate here, Mrs. Clinton blamed the process of “retroactive classification” and a political witch hunt led by congressional Republicans for the ordeal. More than 1,200 messages both received and sent while secretary of state now have been deemed to contain classified information, and Mrs. Clinton argues all of those have been classified after the fact.
The FBI is investigating, but Mrs. Clinton isn’t concerned.
“I have absolutely no concerns about it whatsoever,” she said before responding directly to a question about how confident she is that she will not be indicted.
“I am 100 percent confident. This is a security review. It is being carried out. It will be resolved,” she said.
Mr. Sanders — who famously said in an earlier debate he doesn’t care about Mrs. Clinton’s “damn emails” — would not wade into the issue Thursday night.
“I am feeling exactly the way I felt at the first debate. There’s a process under way. I will not politicize it,” he said.
