Carl Weathers, who portrayed Rocky Balboa’s frenemy Apollo Creed in four “Rocky” films before his character was killed off in “Rocky IV,” said that he had little advice for actor Michael B. Jordan, who portrayed Rocky’s son, Adonis, in “Creed.”
“He called me and we spoke about it, and I told him what I would tell any [actor],” Mr. Weathers told The Washington Times. “It’s your picture.”
Mr. Weathers said he was a fan of both Mr. Jordan and of “Creed” director Ryan Coogler since the duo’s previous film, “Fruitvale Station.”
“I didn’t know Apollo had a son, but it worked out OK,” Mr. Weathers said.
Asked if he would participate in the next “Expendables” film, starring “Rocky” actor Sylvester Stallone, Mr. Weathers said: “If they ask me why would’nt I say yes?”
