Leo is no longer a bridesmaid.
Leonardo DiCaprio won the best actor Academy Award on Sunday night for his role in “The Revenant.”
He won a standing ovation as he took to the stage to accept the statue from Julianne Moore.
“The Revenant was the product of the tireless efforts,” Mr. DiCaprio said, playing up what he has said all awards season about the physical difficulties involved in this shoot.
A DiCaprio victory was expected — he already had picked up a Golden Globe and a British Oscar in the past several weeks and he had the “career Oscar” factor going. Including a supporting nomination for “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” he has been nominated for five acting Oscars, the other three being for “The Aviator,” “Blood Diamond” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
He was not part of the “Titanic” sweep, not even being nominated for best actor, while Kate Winslet was nominated (but didn’t win) for best actress.
