Americans side with the FBI in the fight to force Apple Inc. to crack the security on the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino terrorists, according to a Pew Research Center poll released Monday.
A majority — 51 percent — said Apple should unlock the phone to help the FBI, while just 38 percent said the computer company should stand firm.
The issue is registering with the public, with three-quarters saying they’ve heard about it.
Apple has said it will resist a court order demanding it assist the FBI in breaking the passcode the terrorist installed to protect his phone information.
