GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said Friday he would do more for the African-American community in one year than President Obama has in his seven years in office and asserted multiple times that if he were African-American, he wouldn’t be a fan of the president.
“You know, Barack Obama — African-American — if I were African-American, I would be so angry at him,” Mr. Trump said at a rally in South Carolina, one day before the GOP presidential primary in the state.
“African-American youth has an almost 60 percent unemployment rate,” he said. “African-American people that are 25, prime-time age, 25 to 40, have such a high unemployment rate, you wouldn’t believe it.”
“It’s gone up, and it’s gotten worse since he’s been president,” Mr. Trump said. “Now, he’s African-American. If I were African-American, I wouldn’t like him very much. I will do more for the African-American people than Barack Obama has ever done.”
“I will do more for the African-American people in one year than Barack Obama has done in his seven years, soon to be eight years, and then by the way, he’s out and thank goodness, OK?” Mr. Trump said to cheers.
