(1) Ted Cruz Tells South Carolina Pastors: You Can Change The Outcome Of The Primary And Direction Of America (David Brody, Brody File Exclusive)

Speaking to South Carolina pastors in a private setting, GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz tells them that they have the power to direct the outcome of the South Carolina Primary just eight days from now. “Without exaggeration, I believe the men and women in this room, in the circle of influence you have, in the people that listen and trust your wisdom, your guidance, your counsel, the men and women in this room have the ability to change the outcome of the South Carolina Primary and in doing that change the outcome of the presidential election and in doing that change the outcome, the direction of this country, either to continue us on this same path or to fundamentally bring us back to the free market principles, to the constitutional liberties, to the Judeo-Christian values that built this nation.”

The Brody File had exclusive access inside what is known as a, “Pastors and Pews” event organized by the American Renewal Project. Hundreds of pastors and their wives were on hand to hear Cruz speak. This took place Thursday afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It was NOT on his public schedule. The event is aimed at getting pastors to mobilize their Christian congregations to make sure their congregants are actively voted biblical values. Cruz has done these type of events multiple times over the years. [Marco] Rubio has spoken once.

(2) Cruz attacks Rubio on Planned Parenthood (Politico)

There is little daylight between Cruz and Rubio regarding their disdain for Planned Parenthood. But Cruz is seeking to cast Rubio as weak-kneed and unwilling to stand behind the Texas senator’s 2015 strategy to defund the women’s health organization.

The Texas senator alleged Rubio did not want to use Congress’s “constitutional authority to defund Planned Parenthood,” a charge that overlooked Rubio’s support for tying an attack on the group with government funding.

(3) ’Anything To The Contrary Is False’: Rubio Campaign Fires Back On Ted Cruz’s Planned Parenthood Attack (The Blaze)

“Senator Cruz and his team will say or do anything to win an election,” Jahan Wilcox, a spokesman for Rubio, told The Blaze. “Marco Rubio has always voted with Tim Scott and Joni Ernst to defund Planned Parenthood and anything to the contrary is false.”

Following the release of undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress alleging that Planned Parenthood is trafficking aborted fetal body parts, Rubio voted for a spending bill that would have defunded Planned Parenthood had it been signed into law by the president, as did Cruz.

In August of last year, both senators also supported legislation that would have defunded the nation’s largest abortion provider.

(4) Marco Rubio Opposes Drafting Women into Combat, in Shift From Tentative Support (Wall Street Journal)

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio said Friday he opposed extending the military draft to women in combat roles, reversing his earlier qualified support.

At a gathering of evangelical voters here, the Florida senator said he doesn’t “support drafting women and forcing them to be combat soldiers.”

“We should never lower combat standards to achieve a societal aim,” Mr. Rubio said.

(5) Boys Need Their Moms, by Tim Challies

Today I have a teenaged boy of my own. He and I are close, but I suspect that he and Aileen are closer. I see and celebrate the unique relationship between them. He shares with her, he confides in her, he depends upon her, he receives affection from her. And this is good, this brings me joy. He is a boy who needs his mom, just like I was. I trust that she will help guide him through these formative years with a perspective I simply do not have. I trust that in some way the relationship he enjoys with his mother is in some way preparing him for the relationship he will someday enjoy with his wife. Perhaps, like me, he will be able to echo John Wesley and say, “I learned more about Christianity [and life] from my mother than from all the theologians of England.”
