Former President George W. Bush is featured in a radio ad that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s presidential campaign is rolling out Wednesday, with the 43rd president saying that his brother will be a “steady hand” in a time of crisis.

“This is President George W. Bush. We live in troubled times with the military deployed around the world. We need a strong leader with experience, ideas and resolve,” the former president says in the 60-second ad, which the campaign says will go into rotation statewide in South Carolina starting Wednesday.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that Jeb Bush will be a great commander-in-chief for our military,” he continues. “Jeb has dealt with crises as the governor of Florida, and he did so with resolve, steadiness, and a calmness necessary in a good leader. He respects the military — he honors their families. He can make the tough decisions to keep Americans safe and our country free. And in a time of crisis, he will be a steady hand.”

Mr. Bush, the former Florida governor, goes on to say he’s the only candidate with a real plan to combat the Islamic State terrorist group, balance the budget, and grow the economy.

He is now looking ahead to the Feb. 20 primary in South Carolina after what appears will be a fourth-place finish in New Hampshire on Tuesday.

“This is a national security primary in South Carolina,” the former Florida governor said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “People are concerned about, are we going to support our troops? Are we going to support our military? Are we going to end the sequester? Are we going to support the veterans? My case will be about national security and economic security, but particularly the national security issues.”
