Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Wednesday he’ll probably release his tax returns over the next few months, saying he “fights like hell” not to pay a lot of tax and that he hates how the government spends his money.
“They’re being worked on right now,” Mr. Trump, the winner of the New Hampshire GOP presidential primary, said on NBC’s “Today” program.
“They’re very big tax returns,” he said. “I guarantee you this: The biggest ever in the history of what we’re doing, so it’s very complicated stuff, but we’ll be releasing [them].”
Mr. Trump said he thinks people will be surprised “at how little I pay.”
“I fight like hell not to pay a lot of tax,” he said. “And you know what? Every politician probably does. I’ve watched others where they say, ’Oh, I want to pay [tax].’ I fight like hell not to pay tax. I hate the way the government spends my money.”
