CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Longtime president of the West Virginia AFL-CIO Kenny Perdue has announced plans to retire at the end of the year.

Perdue has been the organization’s president since 2004 and previously was its secretary-treasurer and vice president.

It has more than 575 affiliated unions and over 140,000 active members and retirees.

As a sheet metal worker, he was elected business representative for the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #33.
