CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Freshman Seth Towns scored a career-high 24 points and sophomore Corey Johnson added a season-high 21 as Harvard held off Northeastern 86-80 Tuesday night.
Towns made 7 of 15 field goals and Johnson shot 7-for-10 - all 3-pointers, a career-high for makes. The Crimson (3-4) shot 49 percent from the floor and were 14 of 27 from 3.
Siyani Chambers notched a double-double with 13 points and a career-best 11 assists (out of Harvard’s 21).
Jeremy Miller scored a career-high 26 points and T.J. Williams 20 for Northeastern (4-5), Miller’s points extended his season high by 15. The Huskies’ five losses are by a combined 17 points. Northeastern outscored Harvard 42-18 in the paint, but the Crimson was 15-4 on fast-break points and their bench accounted for 19.
The win boosts Crimson coach Tommy Amaker into a tie with Frank Sullivan as the winningest coach at 177-99. He’s 353-238 overall.
