He was replaced with 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir, who will play with Gary Woodland. … Jeff Sluman and Hank Kuehne in 2004 were the players to win back-to-back. … Lexi Thompson from the LPGA Tour is in the field. She is playing with Bryson DeChambeau. … Russell Knox is playing with Luke Donald. Knox is playing his third straight week following the World Cup in Australia and the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. … Justin Thomas is playing with Smylie Kaufman after their trip to the Bahamas to celebrate Kaufman’s birthday. … Three tours are represented at Tiburon - the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour (Thompson) and PGA Tour Champions (Kenny Perry, playing with Sean O’Hair). … Steve Stricker is playing with Jerry Kelly. Stricker has not played since the Deutsche Bank Championship on Labor Day.

Notes: Rose, who withdrew from the Hero World Challenge with back problems, is entered and his management company said he plans to try to play. … Also in the field is Masters champion Danny Willett, Patrick Reed and Ian Poulter. … Former PGA champion Rich Beem is back in the field, and this time he gets to play. A year ago, he agreed to give his spot to Poulter so that Poulter could keep his European Tour membership in a Ryder Cup year. … Miguel Angel Jimenez is a four-time winner of the Hong Kong Open. … The tournament is part of the 2016-17 schedule this year on the European Tour. Last year it was part of the 2014-15 schedule. … In the final event of the year, the only players who have a chance to crack the top 50 and earn an invitation to the Masters are Thongchai Jaidee (52), Scott Hend (60) and Jeunghun Wang (62).

His son is older than seven of the major champions in the field. “It is too late for us to ask for shots,” Nicklaus said, noting he and Jackie are a combined 131 years old. … The winner receives the Willie Park Trophy, named after the father-son duo who were British Open champions. … Wadkins and his son last won in a four-team playoff over Fred and Taylor Funk, Larry and Drew Nelson, and Davis and Dru Love. … Retief Goosen is playing for the first time with his son Leo. … The 36-hole format is a scramble.
