ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been selected for a top post at the Democratic Governors Association.

The organization announced Monday that Cuomo will serve as policy chairman of the group in 2017. The selection was made at the DGA’s winter meeting in New Orleans.

Cuomo says that he looks forward to working with other governors to create an agenda that improves the lives of all Americans and helps to unite the country.

He cited successes in New York including efforts to raise the minimum wage, invest in infrastructure and education and pass paid family leave.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy was picked to serve as chairman of the group for a second term.
