MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Jonathan Stark scored 27 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor and Murray State overcame a slim halftime deficit to beat Detroit 86-76 on Saturday night.
Stark also finished with a team-high 5 assists. Terrell Miller Jr. added 19 points and Gee McGhee finished with 12 for the Racers (4-4).
Josh McFolley led Detroit (1-7) with 17 points, which has lost seven straight after a season opening win against Adrian College. The Titans outshot Murray State 47.4 percent to 44.3 percent, but finished in a minus-9 hole at the free-throw line and minus-7 in the turnover battle.
Detroit had a 41-38 lead at halftime. But jumpers by Miller Jr. and Bryce Jones gave the Racers the lead, and free throws by Jones and Damarcus Croaker pushed it 72-61 with 6:11 left.
The Titans managed to battle back to 72-68, but they didn’t get closer.
