BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - The city of Billings has set a new snowfall record for the month of December.

More than 3 inches fell on Billings on Friday. That brought the monthly snowfall total up to 29.8 inches. The previous record of 28.8 inches dated to 1955.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2hEceP3 ) Billings got just over 28 inches of snow all last winter.

National Weather Service meteorologist Julie Arthur says more snow and bitter cold are in store as an Arctic front moves in Sunday and Monday.

She says below-average cold could persist for the next few weeks.
