PHOENIX (AP) - A state grand jury has indicted a Phoenix man arrested in an alleged plot to carry out a “lone wolf” attack inspired by the Islamic State on charges that he supported the terror group.

The Arizona attorney general’s office announce the indictment against 30-year-old Derrick Thompson on Friday. He had been arrested on Dec. 20 after being watched by the FBI for more than two years.

He was originally charged in state court with misconduct involving weapons and assisting and participating in a criminal syndicate, the Islamic State. The new indictment includes similar charges and avoids a preliminary hearing set for Friday.

Online court records don’t show an assigned public defender. He is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
