The Washington Wizards (15-16) will be chasing a .500 record without second-leading scorer Bradley Beal on Friday night. Beal is out because of a sprained ankle.

Beal sprained his right ankle in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers. He went to the locker room before returning to the floor in the second quarter. However, Beal did not come out of the locker room after halftime. He was labeled day-to-day. X-rays and an MRI exam showed not damage beyond the sprain.

By not playing Beal, the Wizards will be able to rest the shooting guard for four days between games. After Friday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, the Wizards are off until Monday night when they play in Houston.

Rookie Sheldon McClellan will start in Beal’s place.
