I want to thank David Keene for his op-ed “Unchanged and unbending campus radicals” (Web, Dec. 27). The Washington Times has gained a new regular reader owing to Mr. Keene’s disheartening report of events stifling free speech at the University of Wisconsin. The tactics described in the piece are akin to the ones fostered by communists in Russia, Cuba and China.

Many years ago during the Vietnam War protests, I remember reading a piece that detailed so-called “heroic” student protests. The piece left out both an accurate backgrounder of the radical tactics employed by the left at that time and any mention of the the death of a student.

Again, thank you Mr. Keene. Please accept a salute from a Vietnam veteran who saw first-hand how communists in Southeast Asia killed, raped and beat anyone who didn’t agree with their radical doctrine — a doctrine which demands complete obedience and gives the ruling leftist/progressive class food, health and education while allowing the general population to die from starvation and other deprivations.

It is strange that today’s left fails to mention the millions killed by Stalin and Mao, or the thousands killed by Castro and his old communist terrorist buddy Che Guevara.
