LYNWOOD, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a second body has been found in a suburban Chicago pond where a vehicle with a man’s body inside was previously found.

Cook County Sheriff’s police spokeswoman Sophia Ansari says investigators learned there was a possibly a second body after it went into the pond Dec. 18. The second body was recovered Tuesday morning from the retention pond in Lynwood, south of Chicago.

Ansari says the victim was a man. He hasn’t been identified.

The first victim was identified as 27-year-old Christopher Stone of Chicago Heights. Rescuers battled freezing weather when they found him in a black Grand Prix upside down in the water on Dec. 19.

Ansari said recovery efforts had been ongoing since the vehicle went into the water.
