NEW ROADS, La. (AP) - The police chief in New Roads says a newborn baby found Friday in a restroom trash can at the New Roads Walmart was doing well Monday.
The Advocate (https://bit.ly/2hrYtoc ) reports that the baby girl was at Woman’s Hospital in Baton rouge Monday.
McDonald said Kyandrea Thomas, 34, or Baker, is believed to have given birth to the child inside the Walmart bathroom. Thomas was arrested and booked Saturday morning into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
She was to be transferred to the Pointe Coupee Parish jail Tuesday to face a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
McDonald said the baby on Monday was “good, stable and eating.”
