Trump senior adviser Jason Miller has changed his mind about working at the White House, announcing Saturday that he will pass on the job of communications director two days after he was tapped for the post.
Mr. Miller, a spokesman for the Trump campaign as well as the transition team, cited his growing family: His second daughter is due in January.
“After spending this past week with my family, the most amount of time I have been able to spend with them since March 2015, it is clear they need to be my top priority right now and this is not the right time to start a new job as demanding as White House Communications Director,” Mr. Miller said in a statement.
“My wife and I are also excited about the arrival of our second daughter in January, and I need to put them in front of my career,” he said. “I look forward to supporting the President-elect from the outside after my work on the Transition concludes.”
He said that Sean Spicer, who was tapped last week to become White House press secretary, would take on the role of communications director.
Mr. Miller joined the Trump team in June after working for the campaign of Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican.
