SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - A Skowhegan mansion that was once the home of a renowned violinist has been auctioned off for $130,000.
The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2hZ2XSJ ) the 13-room Greek Revival home and land was sold to an area building contractor and his wife on Wednesday.
Somerset County real estate records indicate violinist Mary Elise Fellows White lived there in the early 1900s.
The more than 4,400-square foot home was built around 1840. The Skowhegan assessors’ office lists the home as having a value for taxation of more than $252,000.
The home has several chandeliers and four brick-and-tile fireplaces. It also features herringbone-pattern maple flooring and a dining room with a built-in buffet.
The parlor and dining room have leaded-glass built-ins.
