JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Wildlife Bureau director Chad Dacus has resigned.
Dacus tells The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/2hCa6EY ) he plans to take a position with Mississippi State University Extension Service in Starkville as the training coordinator for the USDA Wildlife Services Training Academy.
MSU, in a news release, said the academy is the first of its kind in the U.S. and is dedicated to training, instruction and safely resolving human-wildlife conflicts and safety-related risks.
Dacus had been with the department for 14 years and during that time, held several key positions in wildlife management.
Ed Penny, the current director of conservation programs and former Wildlife Bureau director, will step in on a temporary basis.
