DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Scoochie Smith passed the 1,000 point-mark and finished with 10 points, seven assists and seven rebounds to help Dayton beat VMI 92-56 on Friday night.

Sam Miller had 15 points and Kyle Davis added 14 points and four steals for the Flyers (9-3), who tied a school record with 15 3-pointers. Smith ended one assist short of 400 for his career.

Darrell Davis added 11 points and Ryan Mikesell, John Crosby and Xeyrius Williams each scored 10, making it seven Flyers who reached double figures. Dayton’s leading scorer, Charles Cooke, was held out as a precaution to rest a sore wrist.

Dayton had runs of 9-0, 7-0, 11-0 and 7-0 in the first half and led 47-29 at the break. VMI got no closer in the second half.

Adrian Rich had 15 points, Julian Eleby added 11 and QJ Peterson scored 10 for the Keydets (3-8). Eleby’s jumper 49 seconds into the game was VMI’s only lead of the game.
