PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police say excessive speed was a factor in two crashes that left two Providence men dead.
The Providence Journal reports the first crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 95 South near exit 25 in Pawtucket.
Police say 30-year-old Virtolino Lima was traveling south at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a curb, guardrail and pole. Lima was killed. Police say alcohol was a factor in that crash.
