CHICAGO (AP) - A former state lawmaker who resigned to take a $10,000-a-month post at the Illinois Department of Corrections has been fired after complaints he groped women at a Christmas party.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/2i10DI6) state records show ex-state Rep. John Anthony was fired Dec. 7.
The Republican from Plainfield served about three years in the Legislature before leaving in June to work as the executive assistant to the Illinois Department of Corrections director.
The Sun-Times filed an open records request for reports related to his firing.
According to the reports, several female state employees told investigators Anthony was saying inappropriate things and touching women at the party. One incident was captured on a surveillance video that the state provided the newspaper.
Anthony could not be reached for comment Friday.
