In a recent divorce court filing, actor Brad Pitt blasted estranged wife Angelina Jolie for acting against the best interests of their six children by compromising their privacy.
Ms. Jolie “appears to be determined to ignore even agreed upon standards relating to the children’s best interest,” complained Mr. Pitt in a Dec. 21 memorandum attached to a previously filed request, People magazine reported Thursday. The document blasted Ms. Jolie for having “exposed the children by making public the names of their therapists and other mental health professionals.”
As such, Mr. Pitt is again asking the court to seal records related to the divorce proceedings. A similar request in early December by Mr. Pitt was denied, although People magazine cites Ms. Jolie’s attorney as saying her client’s objection is not to sealing the records but with being caught off-guard by the Pitt legal team’s emergency filing.
Mr. Pitt’s latest legal salvo is just the latest in a contentious breakup that began in September, days after a heated argument between Mr. Pitt and eldest son Maddox on the family’s jet.
Separate investigations by the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services and the FBI both ended with no finding of wrongdoing by Mr. Pitt.
Ms. Jolie has sole custody of the couple’s six adopted children, but Mr. Pitt is permitted “therapeutic visitations” with the kids, according to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
Mr. Pitt also agreed to undergo random drug and alcohol screening and take part in solo and group therapy sessions, ET noted. The children, as well, are receiving individual counseling.
