Reacting to breaking news that Kellyanne Conway was joining the Trump White House as an adviser, liberal celebrity Bette Midler made a vulgar joke at the mother of four’s expense.

“Kellyanne Conway accepted a job in Trump’s WH after saying she wouldn’t. I guess she went back on a promise she made to her p—-y,” tweeted the actress and singer Thursday afternoon.

The vaginal reference most likely alludes to Mr. Trump’s hot-mic audio from 2005 in which he bragged about exploits with women to then-“Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush.

Followers were quick to respond, many negatively, to Ms. Midler’s comment.

“oh wow,i looked up to you,now i am ashamed of you. i will never buy anything you have done again. BOYCOTT time,” tweeted one female Donald Trump supporter. “Wow and I used to love your music and acting…no longer as I have lost all respect for you,” wrote another woman.

A search of Ms. Midler’s tweet stream reveals a trove of anti-Trump tweets over the past year. She has also been a reliable Democratic donor over the past 16 years, giving to various presidential and Senate campaigns, according to a search of FEC records.

Earlier this month, Ms. Conway told the New York Times in an interview that she had turned down a job offer from Mr. Trump to be White House press secretary. At the time she cited her children as a major factor in that decision.

“Before I can accept that job, I have to recognize that I’m a mother of four children who are at very tender, very fraught ages — 12, 12, 8 and 7 — and I can’t just say, ’Oh, but they’ll be OK,’” she said, CNN reported. “Someone else will take care of them.”

Thursday, however, Ms. Conway hit back at male detractors who have wondered how she could balance White House work with family life.

“I would say that I don’t play golf, and I don’t have a mistress so I have a lot of time that a lot of these other men don’t,” the former Trump campaign manager said on Fox Business Network. “I see people on the weekend spending a lot of time with their golf game. And that’s their right, but the kids will be with me.”
