MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A March trial has been scheduled for a man accused of killing a 19-year-old Mason City woman.

Court records say 60-year-old Larry Whaley submitted a plea of not guilty Tuesday to a charge of first-degree murder. His trial is set to begin March 7.

Authorities say Whaley used a handgun to shoot Samantha Teeter once in the head a little before 4 a.m. on Dec. 2 at his Mason City home. She died two days later at a hospital.
