HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg’s next mayor and council members will have larger salaries than the city’s current leaders.

WDAM-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2hcaLk9 ) that council members on Tuesday voted 3-2 to increase the mayor’s pay by about 34 percent and council member pay by about 69 percent for the 2017-2021 term.

With the change, the mayor’s salary will rise from $81,890 to $110,000.

Salaries for council members will be increased from just under $16,000 to $27,000.
