CANTON, Miss. (AP) - Madison County officials have agreed to pay a former county engineer who filed a $1.4 million lawsuit over money he said he was still owed.

The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/2hrrEnc ) reported Tuesday that Madison County supervisors voted to pay Rudy Warnock $550,000 to settle a lawsuit he filed in February.

Warnock, who was fired by the supervisors in January, said the county owed him over $600,000 in past due invoices. That number increased to $1.4 million in April.

The county’s attorney Katie Bryant Snell says Warnock also accused the county of copyright infringement over use of plans, drawing and other documents created by Warnock’s firm related to road and bridge products.

The county had filed a counter lawsuit, denying Warnock’s allegations and accusing Warncok of over-billing the county.
