JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - An agency that oversees a 6,000-acre business park in Clark County is tackling some major infrastructure improvements at the center to help attract an expected influx of new business related to the opening of the new Lewis and Clark Bridge over the Ohio River.
Officials with the River Ridge Development Authority have announced a series of about 20 infrastructure construction projects at the River Ridge Commerce Center for 2017, the Courier-Journal (https://cjky.it/2hV5oWa ) reported.
Authority Executive Director Jerry Acy said in a release that the authority has made progress initiating and overseeing approximately 30 new construction and demolition projects in 2016. He added that the authority’s investments in new infrastructure are crucial for the River Ridge to fulfill its goal.
“With a projected 20 new projects for 2017, we will continue to lead the way in economic growth and opportunities for the entire region,” said Acy.
The authority board has awarded construction contracts for a $2.64 million wastewater pump station and force mains, nearly $285,000 in utility extensions, and $4.7 million for site amenities, such as landscaping, an amphitheater and a pedestrian bridge. It also plans to demolish nearly 50 above ground storage tanks.
The authority owns and manages the River Ridge Commerce Center. They took title to all the property at the business park site earlier this year.
In 1998 the authority was created by the commissioners of Clark County to redevelop the Former Indiana Army Ammunition Plant.
