DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) - Peyton Aldridge scored 29 points and Jack Gibbs added 22 more as Davidson defeated Jacksonville 75-60 on Wednesday night, shooting 58 percent in the second half to break open a close game.
Aldridge has scored in double figures in every game this season for Davidson (6-4) and shot 11-for-15 from the field Wednesday, including 2-for-2 from distance, made all five free throws and added nine rebounds with five assists. He became the 49th player for Davidson to reach the 1,000-point mark and is only a junior.
Gibbs scored his 22 on six 3-pointers as the Wildcats were 11-for27 from 3-point range. Jon Gudmundsson added 10 points and seven assists.
Jacksonville broke away early from a 32-32 tie at halftime on back-to-back 3-pointers by Darien Fernandez in the first couple minutes after the break, but the Wildcats went on a 21-8 tear to lead 53-40 on a three-point play by Aldridge.
Darius Dawkins led the Dolphins (9-5) with 13 points.
